The Town of Avon has released their summer events calendar… and it’s awesome! The pavilion and other facilities at Nottingham Lake have opened up awesome opportunities for fun, family friendly events! Check them out:

Free Yoga in the Park

The Avon Recreation Center offers free yoga on Saturdays throughout the summer with certified yoga instructors from around the Vail Valley. Start your weekend on the right foot…then the left…by stretching and energizing your whole body on the picturesque Performance Pavilion Terrace overlooking Nottingham Lake. Every Saturday through August from 9 – 10 am.

 

 

Missoula Children’s Theatre

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, is coming to Avon to stage an original, full-scale musical production with local cast members in grades K – 12. A tour team will arrive in Avon with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. Auditions will begin on June 12th to cast 50-60 local students to perform The Tortoise Versus the Hare. Rehearsals are scheduled throughout the week, with one performance scheduled for Friday, June 16th and two performances scheduled for Saturday, June 17th. All students must be registered to audition, and registration for this free program is available on a first-come, first-serve basis through the Avon Recreation Center.

 

Daddy’s Girl Tutu 2K

Make Father’s Day special by enjoying some exercise in Nottingham Park and bring the whole family for this 2k race. Moms are welcome too, as are boys and girls. This mission of the race is Family, Fun & Fitness. TuTu’s aren’t mandatory, but they’re strongly encouraged, as are superhero costumes, capes or other costume couture. With a 9:00 am start, you’ll have the whole day left to spend enjoying the features and amenities of beautiful Nottingham Park.

 

 

 

 

 

Cover Rock Music Festival: British Invasion

The British are coming! This one-of-a kind “Tribute Band” festival features the world’s best Tribute bands celebrating the sounds of The Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton and more! The inspiration for Cover Rock was simply to create a festival of the greatest music of all time in a beautiful setting, relaxed atmosphere and a hassle free experience with small manageable crowds.

 

 

Haute Route Rockies

Carving through the heartland of American cycling, the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 will feature an unforgettable combination of jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking climbs. The first ever week of Haute Route racing in North America event offers seven timed and ranked stages. Avon will host stage 4, an 11-mile Individual Time Trial from Avon to Wildridge that includes 2,000 feet of elevation gain.

We invite you to take part in the family friendly festivities going on throughout the park with face painters, fire jugglers, stilt walkers, balloon sculptors, magicians, and so much more! Bring your blanket and enjoy festival style food favorites from fresh squeezed lemonade and funnel cakes to mini-donuts and roasted ears of corn. Relax and enjoy Lauren Michaels Band and the Colorado Pops Orchestra before the most amazing fireworks display the State of Colorado has to offer – 10,000 shells explode in a pyrotechnic extravaganza of dazzling color and sound. You won’t want to miss this hallmark event – Salute to the USA will quickly become a tradition in your family!
